Tignes



No other ski resort compares to Tignes and its companion resort Val d'Isère. Situated within a circle of mountains which give access to some of the highest slopes in Europe, often blanketed with fresh snow, its reputation is not for architectural beauty, but for the endless skiing possibilities which can take you on some 500 kilometre journeys without ever retracing your steps. 

With no other transport but skis and mountain lifts, you can reach any of the three valleys, headed by Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thoreins, or fork west towards La Plagne, Les Arcs and Bourg Saint Maurice, and discover the beautiful national park of La Tarentaise. You can also reach Cervinia and Zermatt and ski on the slopes of the Matterhorn, via La Rosière and the Petit St Bernard pass. 

Naturally Tignes has all the usual amenities you would expect to find in such an international ski resort where the most arduous runs were used as training grounds by the greatest gold medallist skiers during the last winter Olympics held at Albertville.

There is the usual array of bars, pubs and cafes for early and late excursions. Some have live music on certain nights or a disco-type night on others. There is always somewhere to quench your thirst and be entertained.  A sports hall located in the central complex houses 2 tennis courts, a gym and a sauna, while a less energetic nights entertainment can be found at the 10 pin bowling alley where you can pit your skills against the local teams.

The apartment 

Chalet Chardon is a spacious nine bedroom luxury chalet apartment located on the upper level of Tignes-le-Lac, enjoying fabulous views of the frozen lake and mountains that create the perfect backdrop to a picture postcard scene. Being only 40 metres from the nearest lift, it is virtually "ski out and ski back". The modern, spacious and well-equipped kitchen dining room has a table extending to accommodate sixteen people. 

The bedrooms have a considerable range in style, size and facilities. The master bedroom suite has south and west facing floor-to-ceiling windows, king sized bed and comprises en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi and separate tiled shower, and a further en-suite double bedroom to rival any 5 star hotel suite; as do two further bedrooms. Two other internal bedrooms have borrowed light from the hall and are fully mechanically ventilated. A further two bedrooms and bathroom form a separate apartment with its own  cooking facility, dining area and living space. 

There is ample storage and a specially equipped room to store skis and shoes. The apartment has  private parking for three cars on the private drive, a rare facility for skiers traveling in their own car.
